The guide
Editorial policy
The rules that govern every page of this guide: honest vocabulary, stated ranges, dated facts, corrections published, sponsorship labelled.
This page states how The Nursery Ledger is written and checked. It exists so a reader can judge the guides, and so an advertiser knows exactly what can and cannot be bought here.
Vocabulary over marketing
We write from the trade’s own vocabulary: propagation method, rootstock, provenance, eye count, caliper, ship window, zone range. Where a term is used loosely in the market, the guides say so and fix a meaning. Ranges outrank promises: heights, sizes and seasons are published as bands with their logic, never as certainties, and every seasonal claim on the site resolves against the planting calendar or a stated soil temperature.
What we refuse
No paid placement inside the guides, ever. No invented statistics, no pretended visits, no reviews of named businesses that a reader could mistake for independent verification. Weak spots in the trade, from hosta virus X to the exclusions in a typical plant guarantee, are part of the subject and are written as such.
Corrections and dates
Every page carries its date, and pages are re-read when the trade moves: ship windows, guarantee terms and virus guidance age fastest. Corrections are published on the page they improve, and readers can send them through the contact page. The guides link to each other the way a good catalog cross references: an anchor in a sentence, with a reason to click, never a bare list.
Sponsorship
Sponsored placements, when the site accepts them, obey the rules on the sponsored content page: labelled at the top of the page, outside the guides, and never disguised as advice. Anything else would cost the guide the only asset it has, the reader’s trust that the ledger records what is, not what was bought.
